This is one of our favourite ways to enjoy swiss chard, sautéed in butter with caramelized onions, and garlic - it is also really quick, and easy to make.
Servings: 2
Time To Prepare: 15-20 minutes
1-2 TBS Butter or Margarine
6 Swiss Chard Leaves
1 clove of garlic, chopped
1/2 medium onion, chopped
1 TSP Sesame Seeds
1 TSP White Vinegar
Salt to taste
Step 1
Chop the swiss chard leaves into smaller pieces. I usually chop them in half along the stem, and then into 1 1/2" thick pieces width-wise. The stems are also great in this dish, they soften up but still add some extra texture.
Step 2
In a frying pan on medium heat, melt your butter, and add in your onion to start softening it. Once your onion is getting soft, toss in the garlic, and the swiss chard. Being sure to stir regularly.
Step 3
Once the swiss chard starts to wilt and reduce in size, this will take about 5 minutes, remove from heat, top with the vinegar, and sprinkle the sesame seeds on top. Add salt to taste.
Step 4
Enjoy!
